Useless Locks & Passwords…
By Nick Ashton, CEO,
Tracometry Group of Companies
I don't
know if you remember when you didn't have to lock your house doors, even in the city. Or the day that Denny’s had to spend hundreds of
thousands of dollars for locks on their restaurants, as they were to close on a
public holiday and not one facility had a lock on the front door. They had always been open, 24/7/365 days a
year.
Now, in
2014, we have locks on everything, electronic locks, passwords that protect us
from the nasty people who want what we have without working or paying for
it. The sad thing is, they do not
protect us and many use the silliest passwords or none at all.
The
corporate world is run on a network of computers travelling the Information Highway at the speed of
whatever and has exits and entrances for our employees to deposit or receive
information of a sensitive nature.
Sadly, the devices that are used to enter this very important circle of
information is extremely vulnerable and insecure in most cases.
If, like
the majority, you are allowing your employees to answer work emails at home,
use their Smartphone to communicate during the work week from on the road or
you allow personal emails on their computer at the office, you are dicing with
commercial death or the worse form of the electronic bubonic plague.
Your IT
Department, which you believe has it all under control are many steps behind in
understanding the hacking, phishing and man in the middle issues that are
costing commerce and industry billions of dollars and time per year. There are not enough hours or dollars in your budget to fight this disgusting low level computer hacker for you to
spend. Why try to fight the war on your
own?
You as a
CEO, President or Owner have a duty to protect what is rightfully yours or your
investors. It is your Duty of Care to
have every single access or communication opening, protected and secure. After all, the company information is vital
to the ongoing success and must be kept out of the hands of thieves and those
that ply their ill-gotten skills for dubious gain.
KEYTALK is your partner in protecting all
of your data, allowing your employees to continue the practice of using their
own devices and visit their private sites and email from the desk or laptop
computers.
Yes, Bring
Your Own Device (BYOD) is permitted under our protection software of short term
certification procedures.
The
discussion of our total solution is not for open forum of a letter or a Blog,
it is for discussion in private. Let us
have a conversation and then communicate electronically via Skype or a personal Webin or one of the
other communication methods and show you our skill set that has been protecting
corporations and governments worldwide since 2004.
